RURAL
MOREHOUSE
PARISH
Outside Towns and Cities
Agriculture
related businesses are currently predominant in the area, with cotton,
corn, soybeans, sweet potatoes, rice, and sorghum. Timber is
also a renewable resource in the parish. A wide range of terrain
can be seen from the long ridge that signals the start of the
Mississippi Delta, where hills and scenic bayous frame the agricultural
land that dominate the east side of Morehouse Parish.
OUTDOOR
RECREATION: Bird watchers,
hunters, hikers, and other outdoor enthusiasts come to Morehouse
Parish to enjoy the rural atmosphere and abundant wildlife. Some sources say Morehouse
Parish is the fifth most popular duck hunting destination in
the United States!
MOVIE INDUSTRY: Many
areas have no highline wires, limited air traffic,
and very little background noise, making Morehouse Parish excellent for
historical movie sets. With the
exception of big skyscrapers and big city smog--Morehouse Parish
has what
your entertainment business needs.
INTERNET/TECHNOLOGY:
Morehouse Parish has a number of Internet service providers available
offering DSL, cable and dial-up connections. A major fiber-optic
cable is located along the US Highway 165 and
US Highway 425 in Morehouse Parish. Efforts are
underway to improve Internet access in the most rural areas with
wireless connections.
