VILLAGE OF OAK RIDGE

Oak
Ridge was originally called "Prairie Jefferson" since the original
settlers came from Jefferson County Mississippi. The Town was incorporated on
September 13, 1904. The charm of the community is reflected in the many historic
homes of the area. Social life centers on church activities and the residents
value the quiet lifestyle of rural living. Situated in the southwest portion of
Morehouse Parish, the community is surrounded by rich agricultural land of the
Mississippi Delta.
Oak
Ridge is located on a high portion of land near the intersection of several
state highways. The major highway serving Oak Ridge has recently been designated
as US Hwy 425, and provides a direct route to Interstate 20 at
Rayville, less than 15 miles from Oak Ridge.
Community sewer and water service are available inside the
Village. Electrical Service is provided by Entergy and Gas Service is available
through Atmos Energy.
The 2005 population estimate of
Oak Ridge is 134. Ms. Cathy C. Finch is the village clerk and police chief
is Mr. Mike Barham.
Oak
Ridge is the home of Senator Robert Barham, Louisiana State Senator – District
33 (1994-Present).
