About Founded in 1984, the Morehouse Economic Development Corporation of Morehouse Parish provides support to existing businesses, encourages new industry to locate here, and promotes the general economic health of the entire parish. MEDC is committed to business retention and works to provide assistance with expansion plans, funding needs and compliance issues. MEDC works closely with other organizations concerned with the economic development of Morehouse Parish, including the Morehouse Parish Police Jury, the City of Bastrop, and the Villages of Bonita, Collinston, Mer Rouge, and Oak Ridge.

* Initiation of the development of a Master Plan for the U.S. Highway 165 Corridor between the Ouachita Parish and the Bastrop City Limits. This includes the 1700 acre tract of land owned by the University of Louisiana at Monroe 2006 - Next Year * Continue to market existing buildings including the former garment factory. Experts say that 85% of businesses look at a community because of an existing building or developed site. Excellent prospect of attracting a large employer. * Continue to market the community's positive characteristics with a new web site, advertisements in trade publications, mail-out brochure materials and Newspapers.
